Traffic Survival School FAQ's
There are many questions when it comes to traffic school: Do I have to attend traffic school? What are traffic survival school prices? How do I reschedule a class? We hope that you will find the answers here. If not, please contact us and we'll be happy to answer your question.
Q. Do I have to go to Traffic Survival School even though I have already paid the fine for running a red light?
A. Yes. A law was passed in September 2001 requiring anyone who runs a red light in Arizona to take traffic survival school regardless of paying a ticket. You will pay a fine through the courts and then the information is transferred to the MVD.
Q: Will this class take points off of my driving record?
A: No. Traffic survival school is mandated by MVD and must be attended within 60 days of the letter you received or your license will be suspended. We are not a Defensive Driving School which is an option through the courts for tickets of 2 to 3 points. If you have already paid your fine for the red light running ticket, you no longer have the option to attend Defensive Driving for that ticket.
What is the difference between Traffic Survival School and Defensive Driving School?
A: Traffic Survival School is an eight hour class required by the MVD when you meet the criteria listed on our home page. You must attend TSS each and every time you are assigned in order to keep your driver’s license.
Defensive Driving School is a four hour class that you may take once every two years for lesser offenses to keep a ticket from appearing on your driving record.
If you have received an assignment letter from the MVD, your ticket has already hit your driving record and it is too late to attend Defensive Driving School for that offense.
Q: What do I do if I lost my letter?
A: If you have lost your Corrective Action Letter from the MVD, go to any MVD location and get a "Proof of Assignment." You must have one of these to get into class!
Q: What do I do if I did not receive my letter in time and my license is suspended?
A: Once you have completed your eight hour class, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to apply for reinstatement of your license at any MVD location. Please be sure to retain the white copy for your files, as this is your only proof of completing the course.
Q: How do I pay for the class?
A: You can pay for the class when you arrive with either cash or money order. You are also welcome to register on-line and use the convenience of PayPal.
Q: What if I paid online and cannot make my class?
